大学英语六级考试大纲（2006年修订版）明确指出：快速阅读部分采用1～2篇较长篇幅的文章或多篇短文，总长度约为1200词。要求考生运用略读（skimming）和查读（scanning）的技能从篇章中获取信息。略读考核考生通过快速阅读获取文章主旨大意或中心思想的能力，阅读速度约为每分钟120词；查读考核学生利用各种提示，如数字、大写单词、段首或句首词等，快速查找特定信息的能力。
　　其中“每分钟120词”的“高速度”通常会让大多数考生感到无从下手。其实不必如此，下面介绍三招来实现快速阅读真正的又快又好！

　　第一招：明确试题特点，做到有的放矢

　　从近几年的真题来看，快速阅读理解部分采用的题型有是非判断题、句子填空题和选择题等。

　　1．是非判断题

　　是非判断题要求我们根据原文信息判断题目中各个句子的描述是“对（Yes）”、“错（No）”还是“未提及（Not Given）”。判断的原则是确定题干与原文语句之间的关系，基本标准是：

　　如果题干与原文意思一致，就是“对（Y）”；

　　如果题干与原文意思不一致，就是“错（N）”；

　　如果题干与原文既不一致也不矛盾，则说明原文对题干表述的事物不曾提及，或未作判断，即为“未提及（NG）”。

　　2．句子填空题

　　句子填空题主要通过改变原文句子结构，或者变换其中的连接词，或缺省其中的某个句子成分，让考生补充所需内容。这类题目要先分析所缺的部分，是一个词、短语、还是从句等，是名词性、动词性还是形容词性等，填的时候要“对症下药”；最后分析原文相关语句，尽量用原文词语填空，但要做到简练，以保证所填内容的准确性。

　　3．选择题

　　选择题是快速阅读的一个备选题型，四个选项就意味着关键词出现的高频率，也相对降低了解题难度。快速阅读的选择题一般很少有需要推理或综合判断的题目，只需根据题干的关键词定位到文中相关语句，答案即一目了然。

　　第二招：掌握阅读方法，以求成竹在胸

　　快速阅读题目考查的阅读方法是略读（skimming）和查读（scanning），强调的是考生在实践语言环境中查询有效信息的能力，其中略读（skimming）的重点在于快速了解文章的中心思想，查读（scanning）的重点在于有目标地找出文中某些特定的信息。

　　第三招：遵循解题步骤，自然水到渠成

　　快速阅读解题中，合理的答题顺序应该是：

　　1．快速略读全文，获取提示文章主旨大意的信息。主要浏览标题、副标题、小标题以及各段首尾句。

　　2．仔细阅读题干，确定关键词。关键词包括：专有名词、数字、描述性名词或短语、副词、形容词及其短语，特别是程度副词、比较词等。题干中透露的一些逻辑关系，如时间前后关系、因果关系、目的、转折、比较级、最高级等。

　　3．带着关键词进行查读，定位关键词所在语句。然后认真研读关键词所在前后语句，作出正确判断或选择。

　　注意“题文同序”的原则，这样每做完一道题目，该题目所涉及的内容及其之前的内容即可置之不理。

　　下面结合2008年12月的六级真题进行实战演习。

　　解题第一步：略读全文，把握文章主题。

　　从文章题目“Supersize Surprise”，第一句话“Ask anyone why there is an obesity epidemic and they will tell you that it’s all down to eating too much and burning too few calories．”和七个小标题以及第二段的“…experts set out the 7 most plausible alternative explanations for the epidemic”可以看出文章讲述的是关于肥胖症原因的重新认定问题。

　　解题第二步：分析题干，确定关键词。

　　这套阅读理解采用了四选一的选择题和填空题的结合，如果题干关键词过于笼统，可以利用选项关键词帮助定位。下面来具体分析。

　　第一题：What is the passage mainly about? 是主旨大意题。

　　第二题：In the US Nurses’ Health Study， women who slept an average of 7 hours a night _______．关键词US Nurses’ Health Study和7 hours。

　　第三题：The popular belief about obesity is that _________．题干关键词popular belief和obesity，选项关键词sleep。

　　第四题：How does indoor heating affect our life? 关键词indoor heating。

　　第五题：What does the author say about the effect of nicotine on smokers? 关键词nicotine。

　　第六题：Who are most likely to be overweight according to Katherine Flegal’s study? 题干关键词Katherine Flegal，选项关键词smoke。

　　第七题：According to the US National Center for Health Statistics， the increased obesity in the US is a result of ________．关键词US National Center for Health Statistics。

　　第八题：According to the US National Heart， Lung and Blood Institute， the reason why older mothers’ children tend to be obese remains _________．关键词US National Heart， Lung and Blood Institute和older mothers’ children。

　　第九题：According to Michael Symonds， one factor contributing to the obesity epidemic is decrease of __________．关键词Michael Symonds。

　　第十题：When two heavy people get married， chances of their children getting fat increase， because obesity is_________．关键词two heavy people。

　　解题第三步：定位关键词，确定答案。

　　第一题是主旨大意题，四个选项为A） Effects of obesity on people’s health． B） The link between lifestyle and obesity． C） New explanations for the obesity epidemic． D） Possible ways to combat the obesity epidemic．，结合第一步的分析锁定正确答案是C）。

　　第二题定位到第1个小标题Not enough sleep第二段最后一句话“Similarly， the US Nurses’ Health Study… found that those who slept an average of 5 hours a night gained more weight during the study period than women who slept 6 hours， who in turn gained more than those who slept 7．”从中给出睡眠时间长短与体重增加多少成反比的关系可以明确判断四个选项A） gained the least weight B） were inclined to eat less C） found their vigor enhanced D） were less susceptible to illness中正确答案是A）。

　　第三题定位到第1个小标题Not enough sleep第三段“It’s well known that obesity impairs sleep…”，该句中的impair（损害）一词帮助我们锁定四个选项A） it makes us sleepy B） it causes sleep loss C） it increases our appetite D） it results from lack of sleep中正确答案是B）。

　　第四题关键词indoor heating与温度控制有关，定位到第2个小标题Climate control最后一段“Could …heating in winter really make a difference to our weight? Sadly，there is some evidence that it does — at least with regard to heating．”从中可以看出四个选项A） It makes us stay indoors more． B） It accelerates our metabolic rate． C） It makes us feel more energetic． D） It contributes to our weight gain．中正确答案是D）。

　　第五题关键词是用特殊字体标注的超纲词汇，定位到第3个小标题Less smoking第一段末句“It probably has something to do with the fact that nicotine （尼古丁） is an appetite suppressant and appears to up your metabolic rate”。根据对短语appetite suppressant（食欲遏制剂）的理解可以判断选项A） It threatens their health． B） It heightens their spirits． C） It suppresses their appetite． D） It slows down their metabolism．中正确答案是C），四个选项中可能只有suppressant一词是大部分考生不熟悉的，但也不必紧张，因为答案中用了suppressant的动词形式suppress，另外一个关键词appetite与其同时出现，只是因词形有变化，所以词序随之改变。

　　第六题定位到第3个小标题Less smoking第二段首句“Katherine Flegal … have calculated that people kicking the habit have been responsible for a small but significant portion of the US epidemic of fatness．”前半句很多专有名词都可以忽略，根据people kicking the habit （of smoking）判断出选项A） Heavy smokers． B） Passive smokers． C） Those who never smoke． D） Those who quit smoking．中正确答案是D）。

　　第七题定位到第5个小标题A little older…，其中指出：某些特殊的群体 adults aged 40 to 79，Mexican－American women和black women等更容易肥胖，四个选项A） the growing number of smokers among young people B） the rising proportion of minorities in its population C） the increasing consumption of high－calorie foods D） the improving living standards of the poor people中正确答案是B）。

　　第八题定位到第6个小标题Mature mums第二段“Results from the US National Heart， Lung and Blood Institute’s study found that the odds（几率）of a child being obese increase 14% for every five extra years of their mother’s age， though why this should be so is not entirely clear． ”归纳出答案是not entirely clear。

　　第九题定位到第6个小标题Mature mums最后一段“Michael Symonds …found that first－born children have more fat than younger ones． As family size decreases， firstborns account for a greater share of the population．”归纳出答案是family size。

　　第十题定位到第7个小标题Like marrying like，根据对本段的把握很明显归纳出答案是文章最后一句话中的partly genetic。

　　总而言之，快速阅读文章篇幅虽长，但是考查的重点无非就是对文章主要内容和某些特定信息迅速获取的能力，并不涉及逻辑推理等相对复杂的综合能力的考核。因此，考生只要掌握了正确的阅读方法和答题技巧，假以时日，勤读苦练，就一定会取得理想的考试成绩。
